Former England striker Teddy Sheringham has ruled out Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea from finishing in the Premier League‘s top four this season.
The Red Devils and the Blues are determined to secure a Champions League place after missing out last season. While the Reds have had coaching changes from Jurgen Klopp and Arsene Wenger, with Sheringham dismissing all three teams as not likely to finish in the top four.
Sheringham said: “I think Manchester City will win it again, Arsenal will be second again, Aston Villa third and Tottenham fourth.”
“I think Tottenham will get into the Champions League, I want to see the title race and I think they can do it if everything goes well, but fourth is possible, I look at Liverpool and I think they will have a transition season with a new manager.”
The former Manchester United striker said of Chelsea: “You don’t know what’s going to happen there but I don’t expect to be in the top four or compete for the title.”
“Newcastle United have got some good players, maybe not playing in Europe helps them, but I don’t think they are good enough to be in the top four.”
“With Manchester United, there are still a lot of questions. They need to improve their consistency. If they do that, they have a chance (to finish in the top four).”
